I’m very excited about the plays for 2027.
Pantomime, by Nobel-prize winner Saint Lucian Derek Walcott. It’s not a pantomime, but a play about a black Calypso player who works for a retired white British pantomime actor who now owns a guest house in the Caribbean. It’s very funny.
The others are likely to be:
Migritude by Ugandan Shailja Patel
A Negotiation by Palestinian Hannah Khalil
I Want to Fly by Zimbabwean Thembelihle Moyo
Audience by Vaclav Havel, Czech playwright who was a leader of The Prague Spring, ousting the Russians. He was then president of Czechoslovakia and then of the Czech Republic. There’s definitely a play in all that!
The total performance will be about 100 minutes.
